In the comics, his character Maxwell Lord ran the Justice League for a while, he was a good guy who was financing them. He had a zany robot sidekick, and burst out laughing when he found out his neighbour was called Dick.
I prefer that version.
He turned evil, and Wonder Woman snapped his neck.
