I hope you managed to get rid of it.

I have a close friend who has an addiction. As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water you can't make it drink. There really is only so much you can do unless that person wants to help themselves and unfortunately some can't.
Oh it's not me. My late brother. He battled years of addiction, but didn't make it.

I battled a bit of mild alcohol addiction from 2018-21 (minus 2020) but I made it.

And some people swear down that cannabis and psilocybin are more problematic drugs than alcohol. Again, the hypocrisy makes me sick.

It is. The drinking was holding me back in lots of ways and I even lost a great job because of it. There were other issues on the job but the drinking was the final straw. At that point I was so unabashed about it that I’d be getting through half a bottle of gin and 3 litres of Strongbow and not even try to cover it up or hide/get rid of the bottles when the morning lot came in. I just didn’t care to hide my drinking. I could’ve been doing bits with ITV had I not been such an alcoholic but 2018 me just didn’t want to help myself, so I got sacked. The drinking problem cost me way more money than that but that’s just one example of how it cost me a really good opportunity and permanently closed a door on me for no reason. I’d give my all to that company if they took me back tomorrow now but they’re not trying to risk taking back an ex-alcoholic so it’s a no-go.
