I did find it sly Segun tried to throw Marcello under the bus. The same way he tried to play it off to Ali he’d said it as a joke. I hope Ali does see through him.

Segun is also trying to keep his "nice guy" persona intact , He knows people find Marcello loud and hot headed... so he is taking advantage of that, and taint poor Marcello's image . It's really wrong and cunning.

Segun is seen as a quiet nice guy, but he is actually managing to manoeuvre himself around groups.. and he seems to be attaching himself to Ali's group more now. He is having silent influence now.
