Martha's behaviour is clearly rooted in her own insecurities and the possibility that she has felt invisible and not accepted her entire life.
She is a 26 year old woman who gains her main identity from being a hardcore Taylor Swift stan (not fan, stan). I mean, I like music I follow groups, no judgement on that in itself, but it's clear that she has invested a large part of her self identity into this. People don't usually do that if they feel accepted and seen in real life.
BUT, yes, the behaviour that we have seen from her has to be taken on it's own merits ultimately and she has behaved terribly. She has attempted to buy her way into the Ali Goon Squad, who didn't want to have much to do with her before this really, by 'exposing' Hanah and then feeding Lily... Will it work? Probably, because Ali is definitely empire building in there right now in an effort to beat Hanah+. In the end, Martha is a nom on her side now after all.
The end result is that Martha is acting in a pretty awful way. She is acting like the girl that snides against you in public to whoever will listen (often behind your back) and then apologises to you for that in private. She is unreliable and untrustworthy and hides that behind a constructed persona of 'jolly big girl'.
