Ali is completely harmless until the moment she senses others are starting to see even the little things going on beneath the veil. Whatever it is, she is very concerned with keeping that well under wraps. I think that it goes well beyond stage management for BB's sake (good wording, btw)... it's like putting on an elaborate show for other people so that they don't feel tempted to engage much further than a surface analysis...
