From what I've heard the film is a pretty faithful adaptation of the stage musical, which isn't "woke."

They'll probably be people refusing to even watch it or give it a chance, which I think is really daft . People should just watch it and see if they like it , rather than listening to what others are telling them .

The film itself is pretty great.

I will concur that there is some strange stuff going on with the cast. Not too fussed about the "woke outrage", however, it's fairly clear (even if you look at them now compared to when the film was shot) both of the main stars almost certainly have an eating disorder. It's really very sad to see. The "pro-anorexia movement" (this was a thing maybe 15 years ago) seems to be very much back. NOt helped by all of the dodgy "weight loss drugs" now available on prescription. Or I think basically over the counter in the US.

I've seen the trailer a couple of times, it looks dump. The actress in the lead role looks like a very poor actor.

If they wanted to have a black actress for the role, I think they could have found over a hundred better black actresses.

But this actress is also gay, so she fits two categories of the message.

I saw enough of her in the trailer to see that she's a z rated actress. I'm a movie connesuier, I know about these things.

If she was any good, I'd say she was, but she's not.
