I watched La la land for the first time. I wanted to moan but I enjoyed it. The ending sucked though

The Substance.

Very gory and bonkers.

I like the story it tells though

Trying to chase perfection

Monkey Man

It was OK.

I nearly had to turn it off half way through because of the camera work, made me feel dizzy.

Nosferatu (2024)

Inevitably I tend to have mixed feelings when Dracula adaptations emphasise the romantic elements and turn it into far more of a demented love story (
Spoiler:

unrequited and abusive as it is in this iteration
) than the original book, or even the 1922 movie for that matter, actually were. I find it cheapens the story a bit, personally. Still, putting those undecided feelings on that particular element aside, the craftsmanship that went into making it was masterfully done. Even a day later I still find myself thinking about it and replaying certain moments in my head, marvelling at the beauty of it all. It has staying power, regardless of your feelings on it.

Scarface. Montana a thoroughly unpleasant character Not sure I'd watch it again. Too traumatising but I love Al Pacino

…When You Finish Saving the World……Julianne Moore is just such an engrossing actress in any character that she plays……it’s one of those movies where the only storyline is about people and how they connect/disconnect…and the disconnection is between mother and son who is played by Finn Wolfhard, the actor who plays Mike in Stranger Things…the ‘non chemistry’ between them is perfectly cast…I loved the movie, there were so many aspects that I found interesting and just completely absorbing…but it’s very slow paced and feels a bit bleak in places so it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea…anyways…8/10 for me…

The Last of Us. Not a film per se, but we did watch it in two sittings so I'm counting it.

Loved it... 8.5/10

The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Partly taken from Bram Stoker's book, the story of the ship that brought Dracula England. Decent, I'd have liked it more had it been more true to the book. 7.5/10

The Bike Riders, Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy (everything's better with Tommo in it). Really enjoyed it, I think this will become a bit of a classic. 9/10

Rebel ridge. I'm a bit bored and having trouble following along. Maybe it's because AnnaSophia Robb is boring. A more intense actress might've been best

Spoiler:

I'm also having trouble following along because I can't connect the dots. Like it doesn't make sense what the cops problems are with Aaron Pierre's character

…oh, I think that I liked this when I watched…it was good to see Don Johnson playing…Don Johnson……but he played a good corrupt person and picked on the WRONG guy….it just felt like a good old fashioned story of power and corruption and the good citizen working against that …with the help of his very impressive Marine background skills, which was something that the corrupt hadn’t figured on and maybe thought that he would just accept quietly, the dish they were trying to serve…it was kick ass, I liked it…

From what I can remember, isn't it just that he figures out they're corrupt....so they don't like him? Also they took his cash and he won't back down.... They weren't expecting any sort of comeback, but he's ex marine. He has a high sense of moral justice. They don't.

I thought it was alright considering there are so many other films like it.

No

Spoiler:

There was some elaborate scheme they were doing with low level offenders, his cousin being one of them. Something about holding them for 90 days on charges that normally wouldn't involve prison so they could keep the bail money and finance their department because the government would close them down if they couldn't finance it themselves. He didn't care about exposing them or the money, only getting his cousin out of prison but then he got attacked and died in prison because the main guys money had been taken by the dodgy cops and he couldn't get him out on time so that's when he went crazy and found evidence to expose them

…yeah, for me that was the thing, that he wouldn’t back down…their corruption picked on ‘the wrong guy’ so their behaviour became more and more extreme which in turn surfaced his Marine skills and background etc…he had a huge sense of ‘right and justice’ and as much as he might have wanted a peaceful existence, he wasn’t going to allow this corruption…

Spoiler:

Ah ok. Perhaps this would all tie together well if in the first scene they showed why they targeted him specifically on his bike. If at least there was a backstory like they knew who he was and that he had a lot of cash then it would make it a bit easier to follow. It just seemed like a series or random acts that didn't connect.

I love Don Johnson too!!! Looking back at Miami vice he may have been the best looking man in the 80s lol

Prime kept harassing me to watch "Your fault" so now I'll watch the first part first "My fault" and then Your fault. You won prime...you won

Edit: 10 minutes in and I already hate it but I shall soldier on.
