Default UK's Gas storage is under pressure - could run out next week

[The UK's gas storage is under pressure
this winter as the UK battles both extreme
cold and high gas prices.
The ongoing colder-than-usual conditions
in the UK combined with the end of
Russian gas pipeline supplies through
Ukraine on 31 December 2024 has meant
that gas inventory levels across the UK are down.]

I am no longer using gas

it is too expensive.

I am an Electric user

thats the usual scaremongering that happens every year. We have plenty gas, we don't get any gas from russia/ukraine so it has zero effect on our supply

We've had one week or a bit more of really cold and freezing weather.

Then we get this rubbish spouted out as scaremongering.
What a pathetic statement.

It's like in the summer.
If we get a couple of weeks of hot weather, there's threats of water rationing in places
Absolutely pathetic.

A lot of the electricity used in the UK is generated by burning gas.

Yes, of course.

Many are now saying this is all
so the Gas Companies
can justify putting up their prices

Nope we have one of these, they are a great bit of kit, plus a multifuel stove, our gas has hardly been on this winter, and we have been in Spain for the worst of the weather it was 21 degrees today

They take a while to get going, but can produce a fair amount of heat in an open space. I prefer ceramic heating as it's the same wattage, but it's more pointed heated, but it does put out a lot more heat. Those are prone to tip over though and better as personal heaters. I feel safer using the one's arista mentioned for large spaces continuously when one can't afford to run the whole house heater. Which was a situation we were in when we lived in MD when they deregulated electricity... it went up like 300-400% and the house was built entirely on electric and ran off baseboard heating/water boiler. Though the homeowner (who built the house) did something ingenious and put the pipes through the fireplace, so if you ran the circulator while the fireplace was on, it would help to take some pressure of the boiler and if boiler is left off, heat the entire home virtually for free (sans the labor of cutting the wood).

I would be OK if some website came out that listed sites and articles based on their levels of fearmongering. I think that'd be infinitely more useful and compelling than simply stating which of them leaned right or left.

Because in my view, there's no what should be termed NEWS-papers now Mock.

They only, along with most other media outlets too, are now just misleading and even shove out blatant lying to get attention.
From whatever their own political agendas are.

Why people waste at least and upwards of £400+ minimum every year on buying what is more gutter trash and deceit as so called news, mystifies me.

If I had a retail outlet I'd put so called news publications on sale on fiction stands.

We have less storage capacity than we used to, but we still have offshore gas and nuclear power stations so we will never run out of energy production. Bear in mind that industry uses far more energy than domestic consumers, and we only have to get to march before any potential issues disappear

University Expert
spoke on LBC Live Gas debate

He said Centrica wants more storage built
is the real story.

He also stated USA Ships are arriving with Gas
for them, every day.

I would think New President Trump
will only allow that if the UK pays Double the amount
or something disruptive.

So 60% of Gas is imported now.

Our youngish neighbours ( mid thirties) haven’t had their heating on much at all just half an hour in the mornings, instead wore lots of layers instead .. as a result their new boiler system failed as the pipes were frozen .. something to do with a condenser/ condensing unit

I've tried that. Puting six jumpers on and a big coat.

The cold still got through. I could feel it in my bones, Maybe they should have gone out and got a couple of fan heaters,
