"How close are we to this" - err, there is no reason this would ever exist because combine harvesters already exist, do this 1000+ times faster, and are already automated (they work like a massive roomba, essentially). They've existed for several years. A wee walking Star Wars robot with a scythe is entirely redundant already.

Those Robots armed

Inefficient anthropomorphising. There's no reason for a machine to physically emulate a human. The US Military is now testing them. Yes, Armed Drones are also great but they can not enter every place |
