Could be special in many many different ways. As in, each friendship is different, but just as special as the others.

This is part of what I mean about the age thing, this sort of tactic is going to be very ineffective on women his own age who will see right through him, but Jojo is a very wholesome character. I wouldn't even call her naive. She just thinks he's a nicer guy than (I believe) he is because she's not encountered this sort of "seduction technique".

Seriously watch a season of Love Island and you'll see 10 Chris's all doing a variation of this exact "relationship".
