Most people I know who have needed/need to take medication and not drink alcohol whilst on them are able to do so. Myself included when I’ve needed medication.

Your claim is incorrect, and not factual. It’s your opinion. Unless you can pull some data which proves your claim.

Spot on, particularly with antibiotics if the doc says dont drink with these, you just dont, most people dont drink every day anyway so its not a big deal, I suppose if you are on lifetime meds though its different but again if mixing with alcohol will make them less effective then whats the point of taking them

Are you proscribed all your meds Redway? You seem to take quite a cocktail even though I think you're relatively young and healthy?

Don't take anything that should be a problem but I don't drink that much anyway.

I’m taking long-term, Ben. Not just for a week or two. Would you give up your beloved flavoured gins forever in the name of tramadol?

Naturally I’m not talking empirical back-up and stats. Unless I say otherwise, I’m giving an opinion, and I’m also asking, similarly, for personal experiences. And you’re doubtlessly intelligent and able to deduce sub-text. Don’t make it awkward. You should know what I mean.

Actually, I take more supplements than anything-else. I have one or two prescriptions but nothing in the way of the number you seem to be thinking.

Antibiotics (“full-spectrum” antibiotics anyway) are completely different, likewise with certain benzos. I made a separate example of them closer to my OP and I’m not talking about them. I’m not talking about a short course of antibiotics or diazepam. I mean meds that you take long-term and if some of the pearl-clutching warnings because of worst-case scenarios concerned wouldn’t be mixed with alcohol at all.

I say the same thing about alcohol all the time. You know I do. I’m very anti over-hemming of alcohol into common culture. But that doesn’t mean I’d want to abstain altogether if it wasn’t truly necessary. I look forward to my beer and bottle of Lambrini on a Saturday night.

All alcohol is, really. But I’d rather have Lambrini as a vice than vodka.

Lets ask AI

AI Overview

Lambrini is a popular perry (pear cider) brand that is often associated with a female demographic. Its marketing campaigns have often emphasized a "girls' night out" theme. Lambrini has a fruity and sweet taste, and is marketed as a refreshing and light drink. The brand has also been associated with a punk/queer rock band called Lambrini Girls.

Either way, you say that like its a bad things that anything feminine is bad. Coming from the guy who admits that there are times when even the blokiest of blokes must drink wine to not be seen as uncivilised (aka at restaurants), probably aware of the fact that there was a time when women weren’t seen as good connoisseurs of wine, I wouldn’t expect you to hang onto stereotypes. So what if more women than men opt for Lambrini? What’s your point?

Again I know plenty on long term who have for medication. And I probably would too. There’s many non alcoholic drinks around now to suffice, and I often find myself drinking them more than alcohol now.

The way you put things across are as though you are stating facts not your opinion.

I don’t have to deal with anything. I’m pointing it out. I think it’s you who needs to deal with it seeing as you’re getting irate about it.

You’ve been pointing out that I’m stating an opinion as fact just-because you disagree with me. And I told you to deal with me not agreeing with you. That’s all. You like to trouble-make over objectivity vs. subjectivity in semantics. I told you giving an opinion.

Yes, I am known for my troublemaking over semantics.

You’re right I do disagree with you. You’ve said most people. I’d agree if you said some, but most people are not raging alcohol dependants.
