Vacs on the NHS from 1st of Jan,
have been announced ![]() [The disease results in a characteristic skin rash that forms small, itchy blisters, which eventually scab over. It usually starts on the chest, back, and face. It then spreads to the rest of the body. The rash and other symptoms, such as fever, tiredness, and headaches, usually last five to seven days. Complications may occasionally include pneumonia, inflammation of the brain, and bacterial skin infections. The disease is usually more severe in adults than in children.] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chickenpox Last edited by arista; Yesterday at 09:49 AM. |

[Children to be offered chickenpox vaccine on NHS]
Not Scotland, [All young children in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be offered a free chickenpox vaccine by the NHS from January next year. It will be given as two doses, at 12 and 18 months of age, combined with the existing MMR jab which protects against measles, mumps and rubella. A catch up campaign is planned for slightly older children so they don't miss out. Until now, parents who wanted to protect their child against the chickenpox varicella virus, which causes red itchy spots, have usually had to pay up to £200 privately. What is chickenpox and how can I get my child vaccinated? Ministers hope offering the vaccine free will not only protect youngsters from the severe, although rare, complications of chickenpox, but also save parents taking time off work to look after a sick child.] According to the Department of Health and Social Care, chickenpox causes an estimated £24m in lost income and productivity every year in the UK. Health minister Stephen Kinnock said: "We're giving parents the power to protect their children. ] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c860n445vyxo Last edited by arista; Yesterday at 10:01 AM. |

…that is so not true, no articles are referring to it being a ‘confused mothers’ thing…that’s just an Arista thing only and an inaccurate descriptive…I mean that’s fine if that’s the stance you’re going to take but very inconsistent of what you ask of and expect from other thread makers…

Sorry but if they are/were charging 200 quid for the vaccine I see why some wouldn't take it up
Especially when chickenpox is pretty safe as illnesses go My mam and dad sent me round to play with the kid in my street who had it, so that I would catch it when I was younger as apparently it can be bad if you are older with it Last edited by Vicky.; Yesterday at 11:45 AM. |

I got it in my early 20s. I had to wait outside in the open air and not in the waiting room when I went to the docs, what with pregnant ladies

I've had shingles after catching chickenpox as a kid, and that's no fun either. It wipes out your energy and then you get blisters along nerve lines in the body

They had chicken pox parties when I was a kid to get it out of the way.
My ex brother in law got it as an adult though as he had not had it as a kid and he was really poorly. My son had it when he was 3 - he was not ill, just spotty

Yes … that’s what I had also !! This was about 30 years ago I’d had the doctor out and mentioned that we were moving house the next day ( we hired a van ) and I was planning on helping with the lifting .. The next morning he returned to beg me to rest and not get involved - can you imagine that happening today when you have to wait 10 days for just a phone call ! There was only a friend and me to do the move so I ignored him and nearly killed myself in the process - my health took a serious dive for a few days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Zizu; Yesterday at 03:14 PM. |
