I find Brit politics can be hard to follow so don't know that I really understand why he is so controversial, but just based on some of the recent reactions to very basic things, I really don't think he is fit to serve...
Protests help expend energy that are out there hanging in the ether and they are very needed. The alternative is to let energy build in other directions and get misdirected or expressed in other ways (usually bad).
He has no business trying to manage the concerns of his own people if his instinct is to talk or event hint at language on cracking down, *or just using non-conciliatory language, whatever it should be called, just after an intended peaceful protest. It fuels the dissent and has the complete opposite effect because it communicates his fear in that position, which can be easily misused or twisted by others, including foreign actors. As a distant observer, I have gotten the impression he must be scared shitless by what is happening. That's very much not good.
