I mean it does feel very conveniently timed, him coming to this realisation that he's supposedly in love with Elsa, just as the final starts coming into view for them all.
I will say though, despite me generally thinking he's eventually gone along with this showmance to get ahead in the game (and also probably because he thinks Elsa's hot, if nothing else), I dislike the idea being peddled about that he's been the main or sole instigator of it the whole time. People seem to forget that he pulled back from her for around a week when things got too intense on Elsa's part. I don't think it's fair to blame him solely for this black hole of a showmance on our screens.
