What happened to good number ones?

I remember back in 2003 when we had Mad World and Bring Me To Life both having turns at being number 1.

Or in the late 00's where The Killers and Kings Of Leon were doing their thing.

Or Mika's Grace Kelly being number one.

This has none of the qualities of what made those artists or songs good imo.

The Killers have never had a #1, and Kings of Leon ‘Sex on Fire’ is one of the worst songs of the 2000’s.

Also, the 00’s had many awful #1’s. Some examples below:

* Crazy Frog - Axel F
* Bob the Builder (with TWO songs teaching the top)
* DJ Otzi - Hey Baby
* Gareth Gates
* Atomic Kitten
* Sam & Mark

And Crazy Frog and Bob The Builder were guilty pleasure classics with an actual beat to them.

The modern Chart scene doesn't seem to appreciate a catchy beat or good vocals, the two basic requirements of Music.

But that's just my view on it.
