I never played the games when I was a kid (despite collecting some of the cards), but I was a big fan of the anime and James was far and away my favourite character. So whichever Pokemon James had on him at the time was my favourite. Koffing, Victreebel, Chimecho, etc., etc.

Nowadays as an adult I like Octillery. Because octopuses are my favourite animal.

The OG Bulbasaur of course

Loved good old Magikarp too. Very satisfying to take him and actually train him to learn more than splash and then evolve him into Gyrados
