Congress have expanded Federal powers since 9/11 and not once have they suggested placing more reasonable limits on federal agencies. In fact, they usually brag about what their legal and lethal capabilities are. Trump has entire intelligence agencies in his backpocket with technology that far exceeds what just federal troops can do to the public interest, but haven't heard a peep about possibly placing reasonable restrictions to protect citizen privacy. Not from anyone. This is too narrowly focused on the State-level action and that should be suspicious. This is a legislative and legal problem, but why have politicians fulfill their duties when they can send the public to do it for them? I hear almost no complaints about this but the way I see it, both sides have been played and are being used.

I 100% agree with you Ammi.

I would still hold the same opinion on this incident if it was over here, because death was avoidable in this scenario, and unfortunately the ICE agent has clearly had poor training and panicked, which has led to Renee dying when she didn't need to.

But the same argument could be said for the people defending his actions tbf.

If we gave every person the benefit of the doubt for shooting someone three times in the head when video evidence shows it was unnecessary, why don’t think would happen?

Regardless of what they were thinking, evidence shows he wasn’t in danger - she expressed that she wasn’t mad at him, we see her turning her wheel away from them and two of the three shots fired came from a vantage of him being right beside her as she drove away. We can see all of that on video.

If he felt threatened enough to shoot her dead in spite of all of that, then it’s reason for him be removed from post and seek professional help. It’s not a reason to pardon his actions.

You literally watch it happen on video.

She’s in her car. She’s calm. She even says she isn’t mad at him. No shouting. No threats. She’s even smiling at him.

She isn’t blocking anyone. You see her yield to traffic. You see her turn the wheel away from the agent. From multiple angles. Including the agent’s own camera.

There is no mystery here. No grey area. The footage answers every question. She was not attacking anyone. She was not using the car as a weapon. She was trying to get away.
