ManU should have an emergency meeting and give Michael Carrick the permanent manager’s job imho

If they don’t surely some other teams will interested

Default Premier League 2025-26 Discussion Thread

There have been some fabulous goals scored this weekend in the premier league plus Lamine Yamal scored a scorching, long range side scissor kick yesterday as well

Sooo Arsenal’s defeat may have opened the door to ManC and Aston Villa ??

Arsenal’s forwards have apparently had a dreadful last eleven games .. goals/assists wise

i have no idea how the remainder of the season will go. It's good i suppose, but it still ends up being arsenal or city in all likelihood

Well if Watkins wasn’t so dreadfully wasteful and they hadn’t unfathomably sold Donyell Malen last week I would fear Aston Villa in the run in …

ManC and Liverpool are just so strangely unpredictable ..

If Oscar Bobb leaves, he will only have been there a couple of seasons. I always liked him as player, but he was out nearly the whole of last season through injury

Now I’ve calmed down after completely losing my head yesterday, here’s my take on Arsenal. Man Utd played well, and once they equalised they were the better side by a distance.

The problem for me is that there seem to be two Arsenals.
There’s the Premier League Arsenal — nervous, jittery, unsure whether to press or sit off. That version looks nothing like the team we see in every other competition. In Europe and the cups, the performances are sharp, confident, aggressive… they look like favourites. So watching the last three league games has been painful, because I genuinely don’t understand why we can’t replicate that intensity domestically.

Premier League teams have clearly figured out that Arsenal don’t press in certain zones, and they’re exploiting it. Liverpool had all the ball but didn’t get a shot on target — which basically means they were passing it around their own half while we sat back and waited. Compare that to the Chelsea game in the Leauge cup, where their back four were being pressed relentlessly in the first half and looked rattled. It’s like watching a Gareth Southgate side: waiting for a moment instead of forcing one.

Arteta has to sort this out because I’m getting nervous. I've seen this before. If we don’t beat Leeds, then it’s game on again after being in such a strong position.

If that stat’s true, it probably reflects the wider picture. The forwards aren’t firing consistently, and as I’ve said before, if Arsenal do end up winning the league, it may well be the defensive unit that carries them through rather than the attack.

Hopefully this serves as a reminder of how fine the margins are. One mistake and two excellent finishes were enough for United, and that’s the Premier League — you can be punished very quickly. On another day, without that slip, Dorgu and Cunha don’t score, Arsenal manage the game, and it ends 1–0 or 2–0 with people saying they controlled it without much effort. But that’s not how it played out, and it shows how little room there is for error.

From here, they need to approach every match with full focus. Not as “just another league game,” but with the intensity of a cup tie. That’s the standard required if they want to stay in the title race.

I will be disappointed if Arsenal don’t win the league this time

Hopefully they start playing some dreamy football and win the thing in style as well - now the two forwards are fit again

This can’t be true , surely ??

Though they would all be excellent additions

𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡: Xabi Alonso has told Liverpool he wants Micky van de Ven, Adam Wharton, Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise if he is to join them.

It seems to me that Arsenal are relying on set pieces to get their goals. As a strategy that has worked well so far, but like everything, teams start to figure out how to counteract it. That to me is why Arsenal games feel different.

If, at the end of the season, the strategy works and they win the league then they will continue that way next season. If they lose by a couple of points then they will need to rethink. Thats where arsenal are for me at the moment
