It's going off topic, but I wouldn't oversimplify our problems down to what that 40% believes (or doesn't). To try to keep it simple, America has been hyper-fixated on race (and gender, etc) for as long as I've been aware of such things. I don't see a big difference between the left and right wing in the US. I really don't. In fact, the more time goes on I only see more similarities and that's especially true with the execution of their politics.

There was a time in my life it would've been a dream to have gone abroad to someplace that didn't have such hyper-fixations, especially on anything related to an individual veneer ("Aren't I/we so virtuous??") While we could once claim to be experts on such things (through multiculturalism), so little of that seemed to translate to helping us deal with such difficulty topics in reality. None of that is surprising. I never thought our handling of big topics was handled sensitively. Rather such expertise is always portrayed in a narcissistic manner and that tends to dress up one's superior qualities over any deficiencies.

Don't get me wrong, I love my country. There's traits I'm quite fond of. However, self-awareness isn't one of them. I don't know that the left or the right realize just how alike they are. Hopefully that made sense.

…I’m inclined to agree with Jordan in that being a huge embarrassment on the world stage is not the same as being ‘the worst country’…the US president is seen as the leader of the free world, US as a country and a power is seen as a leader of the free world but under the leadership of Trump, atm we’re seeing something far removed from that…Trump is so critical and vocal of other countries in their values, in their governing, in their leadership etc…describing countries as ‘sh**hole’ countries….and yet he’s subscribing to overtly offensive tweets in his representation of a previous leader of his own country…how Trump behaves, how Trump is seen is reflective of how the US behaves and how the US is seen …and this is the US president who has so much to say about other countries …


…what was it that one of his administration said…that the world/the media needed to ‘stop with the fake outrage and report on something that matters to the American public…’…Trump had his finger on the button of world peace, he’s seen as the most powerful leader in the world…an overtly racist tweet was posted on the same account that White House official tweets are posted from…that absolutely would, should and does matter to the American public and that his administration’s stance is that it’s of ‘low importance’ that ‘staffers’ have access to post on his official account in such a way and could create National or international offence on a whim…not only matters to the American public but to the world public…and all he apparently/allegedly is saying is…’oh, it’s not very nice…’…yes, an embarrassment for his public for sure….

I agree, the left and right are very much the same. Even just looking back at the Biden administration, it was very clear that Biden said all the right things in terms of supporting ukraine and immigration etc, but didn't follow it up with actions. Also, Trump may have instigated the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, but Biden was in charge of the operation to leave and it was a disgrace. Also, everyone goes on about Trump tariffs, but Biden kept most of Trump's tariffs in place, years into his administration and Biden didn't do a lot to support Taiwan.

You can also say with certainty, if the dems do end up with the presidency again, they will keep the majority of Trump's changes, because at the end of the day, they all want all the power they can get


Here in the UK, nobody is really coming out with anything new. They pass the parcel and so it goes on. The only thing that is certain, they want more and more control over the people they claim to represent
