Start giving these senseless murderers extremely long sentences as a deterrent

I get what you're saying tbf.

But in a country that struggles to give out appropriate sentences to adults that are murderers, it's even less likely to expect a child to be given a tough sentence.

…just 10 minutes from home….for any parent to lose a child is unimaginable but to have their life taken in such a violent way adds another layer….

‘Sarah Coombes, Labour MP for West Bromwich, told the BBC police needed more money, knives needed to be taken off the streets, and there needed to be early intervention.’…

…just words that are hollow and empty when the government over time has cut back so much funding for that early intervention and still there appears to be no priority …the funding now for justice and sentencing etc will be much greater than that of any interventions that could have been looked at and implemented…

I played all sorts of game when I was younger. I haven’t stabbed anyone yet.

Most kids never become violent, even in difficult circumstances. Violence usually appears where risk factors pile up and protective factors are missing. Things like stable adults, safe community spaces, positive role models, and future prospects.

Blaming video games and not the actual problems is lazy and ignorant.

Same can be said for tv, film, social media.

Does this have any correlation to a video game?

We seem to be.....

Violence usually appears where risk factors pile up and protective factors are missing. Things like stable adults, safe community spaces, positive role models, and future prospects.......

Not violent video games....no, it can't he that. That can't have anything to do with a young mind turning violent, it must be having no daddy, and no youth club that caused it.

Why so reluctent to say they do effect young minds?

I do feel that young people have become desensitised. They seem both more mature than people of my age were in some things, but in others, far less mature. When I was a kid my parents would never have let me watch something that wasn't age-appropriate. Stranger Things, for instance, was definitely aimed at young people but I would never have been allowed to watch it. There doesn't seem to be any restrictions on what young people watch or view online and while I'd hesitate to say games are responsible, or films, I do think a lack of parental responsibility coupled with the plethora of sources where youngsters can view extreme violence, horror, porn etc. is somewhat to blame.

Why so reluctent to say they do effect young minds?

Because other factors are involved. Like I said. Blaming video games is lazy.

I'm not solely blam8ng video games, but to dismiss their effect so vigorously, I would say is more lazy and ignorant than simply mentioning they effect young minds negatively.

And to state the bloody obvious for the ignorant...if a game isn't effecting the mind then it's not doing it's job.

What do you mean. Video games are a realm to get away fromlife. Games like GRA have an 18 for a reason. If the parents are buying their kids that game that’s on them not the game
