Sadly, I don’t think many people who post stuff like that afresh or initiate conversation about it on this forum have the willingness to understand the relationship between people of colour and colonialism, and I’m not just talking about stolen Benin-artefacts. Some people don’t know anything beyond their immediate proximity with indigenous whiteness, so their cultural purview can be really, really limited. (I’m not reverting to you at any point during this, btw, Mock. I’m talking generally.) There are some things that we, as people, will never fully understand, as far as experiences unique to individual communities are concerned.
