Most of the time it's just the truth that older Media was better.

Some things were better, some things were worse, some things have their own distinct quality-trajectory over the years/decades and fluctuate in quality. But it is true that people are more inclined to whinge and moan (not you, dw) about the present moment than praise it. Anything can become nostalgic if given enough time. That’s the counter-side. People are rarely 100%-satisfied with the present moment.
