I’m really struggling with what we’re seeing from him lately. Just last week he was again bragging about taking a cognitive test — the same one he’s now taken three times in a decade. He keeps calling it an intelligence test, even though he’s publicly and repeatedly said that its a cognitive test.

What unsettles me is the way he talks about it. He keeps saying he’s the only president who’s ever taken it, but there’s no curiosity about why he was asked to take it in the first place. No reflection, no self‑awareness — just “I aced it, so that makes me special.” It feels childlike, and this is the person making decisions in the middle of a war.

He also keeps insisting the questions “get harder” as the test goes along. If he genuinely thinks any of those questions are difficult, that’s what scares me. It makes me want to curl up into a ball. This is the guy steering the country through a major conflict.

And honestly, I think leaders like Putin and Netanyahu fully understand what that test actually measures — and what it doesn’t. That’s what worries me most.

I didn’t, but I agree with the general point — Biden dealt with the same issue. And now that I actually work in this field, I’ve come around to the view that every candidate should have to take a cognitive test before running.

You caught me, but not entirely. I’m not saying it as a “gotcha” about one person; I’m saying it because I’ve seen how these assessments work and how much they reveal about basic functioning. If we’re trusting someone with the most demanding job on the planet, it shouldn’t be controversial to expect a baseline check on whether they’re up to it.

It shouldn’t be partisan. It should just be standard.
