They'll be unlikely to put him under anaesthetic Nino, because it's a superficial wound.

They'll give him an antibiotic injection to ensure it doesn't get infected, then they'll just advise you to keep it clean, which I see you have been doing.

Don't worry too much. All my cats have had ear rips. It seems to be the most common injury in a cat. But, remember it's only skin really, so it can't do any fatal harm having a torn ear.

When I was little, my cat had only half an ear. He was always fighting with other cats.

It doesn't seem to be as bad as we think it is though, cuz the cat's never seem to panic, but we do, cuz we see the blood.
