... as for roddick he wasn't rude at all. he was extremely candid about his feelings without wallowing in self pity. he complimented federer on how he out fought him. very impressed with how he maintained his composure throughout

Your argument was irrelevant from the beginning. Give up.. you won't win..

Sorry the crying incident are you referring to the bit when RF won and rod laver gave him the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup?

or the AO 09 defeat?

Roddick shouldn't really have much to complain about in all fairness for someone to be near-quitting and then come back to form and expect to win a grand slam after having such doubts in himself. Doesn't sound like he deserves to win a GS because he doesn't believe in himself.

Well he acted the same as he did for Wimbledon defeat last year, he must have just been frustrated and I don't believe he isn't allowed to show emotion on such a big stage. The fact that he is crying must singlehandedly show that he is a gentlemen and feels so compassionate for the sport.

don't agree about roddick. to reach the final was such an achievement for him, especially when you consider how his form has dipped over last few years. nobody gave him a chance in the final and he pushed federer all the way. don't forget also that he contained his emotions and showed great resillience to defeat murray and a partisan crowd. loved when they cheered for him after fed beat him

Yeah because he did deserve everything he got from that tournament! His defeat over murray was awesome (I was there watching every single point). But what I was saying was that for someone who was near quitting and showed less compassion towards the sport he plays a year ago, Roddick didn't deserve to win a tournament such as Wimbledon when there are other players out there striving to succeed. Just sounds selfish to me to even consider quitting when he still has the talent.

as for fed crying i think you can feel either way about it and i respect your opinion. i just feel that he has a huge ego and believes all his own hype. do you ever hear him in press conferences saying how unbelievably he played? always complimenting himself and his performances? i just don't sense the same humility and awareness for the other players that nadal always shows. fed is always there to pass comment on others...... remember djokovic? nadal just does his own thing. concentrates on his game

It doesn't help being told for the last 4-5 years that he is one of the best players ever and that he is so talented. H'e got used to winning... A LOT
I don't discard anyones views when they discuss tennis, just as long as its valid and isn't stupid (like some other guy on here the other day). So I don't mind just discussing. I'm not looking for an argument or anything.

i think roddick is coming from a safer more relaxed place now. you sense more balance with him. thats what saved him against murray and nearly got him the win over fed. only for a few mad shots in the 2nd set tie break when he lost the plot a bit, i think he'd be the one with the trophy right now.

But thats the way things go unfortunately and Federer definately showed he was a champ on sunday and took the title. Roddick had his chances and he didn't take them. But in the 5th set both men can be criticised for playing poorly at times. Was just Federer to managed to stay more consistent when it was needed.

Roddick will have a major chance at US Open.. but so will many of the other ATP tour stars. Cannot wait to see what happens! Feel free to comment on 'The Official Tennis Thread' we need more people in there lol

... say whatever you want about that final but the reality is that nadal would have killed federer the way he was playing. ok his serve held up but nadal would have exposed his dodgy groundstrokes. he was fairly shakey on sunday in that department and nadal would have eaten him up.
