I normally hate forum arse liking too but this is an exception to the rule given it's definitive nature. First of all it's not endless. This is the first proper list of it's kind for this kind of thing. Secondly, I think I am not alone in saying the main draw of this, like the last list, is that the countdown itself is very funny and makes for great banter.

Don't paper over the cracks here; it's still arse liking - you know and I know it. A most hated or controversial thread is fair enough because it's free from the constraints of sickly sweet conformity and there's the chance of some real insight coming across, or possibly real wit. This on the otherhand is just another excuse for a wankfest and I wouldn't call it definitive in the slighest... funny yes, definitive no.

I would agree with you if it were not for the fact that I have the ability to read, and judging by what I am seeing, well, there is not a whole lot of arse licking going on in this thread. Meanwhile the hate thread and all associated build up was fucking choc full of it. Mostly because people knew they were going to make the list and were thus playing it down and acting like they wanted to be on it.

Seriously dude, I must be missing something here. I cant see much in the way of arselicking going on. All that's going to happen is groups of friends will vote for each other but that's inevitable and totally fair, after all, I presume they are friends because they like each others posts.

And you know what I meant by 'definitive'. It's the first, big, vote style count to happen. And that's what makes it fun and not at all arse lickery orientated. There is an element of excitement and surprise because everybody is voting, sans afformentioned arse licking, in private and we get to see the placements in the countdown thread which gives it a nice element of suspense which should in turn make it into a cracking read you are more than welcome to ignore.
