Just because you havent mentioned their colour means nothing, you still discriminate because they are different to you and dont do what you do. You also imply that they all generally think the same way, that they are "taking over" and theyre a threat to British culture (theyre not generally). You have no desire to understand where theyre coming from or enter into any negotiation, you want to ban things that people choose to do that has no bearing on your life whatsover when all evidence points to the fact that that will only create more tension and solve nothing.

This is my point...you are attacking a whole religion and group of people that follow that religion because of the actions of a few

The things you say have been said about various groups over the years...Jews, black people...

I think it's only natural for parents to be concerned if their child is getting involved with someone who's from a totally different culture as what may be right and wrong in your culture may not be in theirs, I don't think this makes the person a racist just a concerned parent, I do however think that this pole is racist and may as well read "who do you hate the most"!!!

Also, to address Rémy's points about how his family were raised. I was raised alongside one brother. He brought girls home often, when we lived with our parents, but I never brought men home until I was engaged. If anything, I have grown up with self-respect. It might be double standards, but the world will always judge the behaviour of a girl, so my parents were doing it to protect my reputation.

Will I do the same with my son & daughter? I don't honestly know. I know my husband would allow my son to bring home girls, but not my daughter to bring home boys. But, the decision will not be his alone. When the time comes, I'll decide too, and I might do it the same way I was raised, or I might be more liberal and equal about it. Ask me again in 10 years.

I disagree. It's not a racist poll. It's a poll to provoke discussion, and for others to offer their opinions. If some of the opinions are racist, that's not the OPs fault.

That's why I usually don't get involved in these 'sensitive' discussions. You have to be extra careful when airing your views, as the race card gets overplayed.

You didn't overplay it Niamh. I meant, in general, previous discussions have always ended up with the "You are a racist" posts all over the place.

Whatever about anybody elses opinions or the merits of this particular thread as a source of discussion, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that LeatherTrumpet has some clear discriminatory views. Of course when backed into a corner about this these type of people will try and flip the tables on you by claiming your a monster who will brand anybody who does not see things your way a racist.

Come on, one of his posts made heavy reference to the fact that homosexual men are incapable of true love, for christ sake.

It gets people going and some issues need to be addressed. But for some reason people merge culture/race/religion when they are all different.

Yeah, I see that, I don't think I've ever accused anyone during those discussions of being racist though, the only reason I said that this poll might be is because I do think that the OP only did it to provoke reactions from certain people on here, though If I'm wrong about that then I apolgise!

Now that you've explained it, I get what you meant. And, I agree, the poll is provocative. I do think LT's agenda is to spark controversial debate, but that alone does not make him a racist.

Yup, that's what I'm saying. If he makes a racist post, I'll judge that on it's own merits, and when he made a homophobic post, I do believe I responded to him.

Couldnt have said it any better! Ive told myself, not to post on these threads anymore, but its good to notice, that most people around here, or in society in general, dont hold their views. Our genaration, is almost there I think.

The homosexual one, yeah - I'd forgotten that little doozie. And I remember the time LT questioned me on my sexuality because I wasn't agreeing with them on a certain issue.

My opinion on this topic is : I would be worried no matter who my daughter brought home and would like to get to know that individual person to make sure that he is good enough for my child!!
