Wasn't mad keen on the song but at least it was different and I have a soft spot for Shakira anyway. She seems a big quirky and off beat for a mainstream artist which is always refreshing.

I take no interest in Britney Spears, I was unaware of what she has/hasn't written. Whatever, my point still stands, there's a huge difference between somebody who gets by on looks and somebody who gets by on talent, I took Britney as an example because 3 is the first song that I could think of that falls under the 'meaningless' category.

Shakira's an acquired taste, but there's no way anybody can reasonably say she 'gets by on her looks', there's so much more to her than that.

I really like Shakira.

Sometimes, live, her voice resembles a goat,
But she's got some great songs, is totally stunning, (sometimes) is a completly great dancer (funky robot in "Shewolf" not included!), and isn't just another Alicia, Rihanna, Britney, or Christina.

Who else out there is like Alicia Keys or Christina Aguilera, MiuMiu?! However I agree with your general point, she's unique, I can't think of anyone remotely like her.

I was just trying to make the point that she is unique lol.
I failed haha because Alica keys and Christina are pretty unique in the world of music today.

She's one of the very few female artists in today's mainstream that does anything interesting, takes risks along with Christina and um.... I would say Alicia but she generally stays in her box.

But yeah she's very underrated as an artist.
