That's actually not opinion though. It's fact. I've read books pertaining to that era and they state that the major labels were more willing to take a chance on signing non-mainstream bands because of the unexpected success of Nirvana.

Yeah, but even if they did do that, do you think they would be that popular if Kurt hadn't had a 'tragic rock star death'? Then they might not have been overrated, but now i'd say they deffo are.
