What cracks me up even more is the fact that more than any publisher, Nintendo always set themselves apart for quality approval B.S. and last generation bigged themselves up as being a 'true' developer and not a corporate mega giant like Microsoft.

Quality approval my ass! They often approve poor PlayStation(2) ports that just DON'T function well on the Wii. Ninjabread Man for example. One of the worst games for the Wii. Ever. That was a PS2 port, and it just doesn't work.

Data Design Interactive are the worst gaming company. Everybody that has heard of this company knows that, but Nintendo are allowing their garbage through.

360 is great, but I rely more on my PC. PC gaming > console gaming. I'm lucky enough to be able to run most of the high-end games.

The one thing that puts me off the PC is having to upgrade it

I had

Mega Drive > Dreamcast > PS2 > Xbox 360

Though we played the PC throughout all that with games like Monkey Island, Theme Park and The Sims xD

I used to love the PC for shooters but it seems to be a bit dead these days apart from going into the cafes for multiplayer with the lads.

Nintendo are one of the best Game publishers If we were to make a list of the best games ever Legend of Zelda would take up a few spots in the top 10, Mario would be up there as well as Metroid among others. Apart from a few miss-steps this generation you cannot fault the first party games for the Nintendo.

All the really awful 'games' have been third party games trying to get a cut of the casual market, and every console has bad games and if you judge a console by those games then no company is gonna come up smelling of roses. If you were to gather all the best games so far from the wii and compared them to the best games from other consoles it would hold up well. It's the third party developers looking for a quick flash in the pond that's the problem with the Wii.

As for top quality Xbox & PS3 games that don't involve major franchise characters?

Mass Effect, Bioshock, Infamous, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Just Cause, LittleBigPlanet, Assasins Creed, Borderlands, Left 4 Dead, Dragon Age, Saints Row and Gears Of War are all brand new gaming franchises that have started this generation.

Can the Wii even come close to that? What reputable new gaming franchises has it established for the gamer this generation? Very few. It's simply a dumping ground for the same old characters and third parties who are making a quick buck off generic casual games.

Developers are not that interested in developing serious games for the Wii. And why would they be? If I had a game idea I would take it to the Xbox or PS3 where I had the hardware to express it and the owners to buy it. All this because while Nintendo were trying to get my nan to play games, they forgot about the gamers.

The Wii sells because of it's casual appeal. But Nintendo really need to rely on more than the same old characters to sell the games. If they didn't, the GameCube wouldn't have bombed.

Halo is the shiz. Really comes under some unfair criticism. Yeah it's not the best thing in the universe like some people big it up to be but a to say it's anything less than a great series of shooters if you have played them is a bit odd. Very enjoyable IMO.
