The point of a username is that it stays the same, so the forum and usernames stay familiar to everyone. You can change your avatar, signature and status - just not the username.

We will change your username in some circumstances...

If you really don't want to use your real name for reasons of keeping it private.

If you have a username which is a generic Big Brother name or refers to an old reality show contestant then fair enough those can be changed.

(We might also allow a small change to a username, a letter or two changed but the name stays almost the same.)

But... if you are changing, it has to be a permanent change - some of the requests above I think will just result in wanting to change again in a few weeks.
