Default CoD :O

Have a look at the new Call of Duty trailer. It looks like it is straight out of Hollywood.

I'm not fussed about COD any more, it's just gonna be the same old crap in a different setting. they have what? 2 years at the most? That's not long enough to make a fully featured sequel so the last few games have been basically the same thing with a few added weapons/perks ETC.

What the need to do is to take a few years to really improve the series because it's becoming completely stale now.

It's a nice trailer but you just know it's gonna be the same old same old.

It's become that type of game though so I'm not sure is that a fair criticizm. It's like the FIFA or Smackdown Vs. Raw of shooters, and people seem to like it. A few upgrades every year, new setting, etc. It still works and people will still pay for it and play it.

I think a lot of genres are reaching a glass ceiling now where you simply can't do much more that has not already been done. That's why so many franchises are going the minor update route rather than complete overhauls with every iteration.

I'm happy with it, personally.

And they are all awesome games.

I don't really want the wheel re-invented constantly. It might be an unpopular opinion but I'm happy with the same old crap. Right now, that crap is really pretty awesome.

Your right of course they could very easily update the game online to match WWE's current goings on, but then they would have no excuse to get people to buy a new one every year.

I always liked the idea of having it be a subscription based online thing. Pay a fixed fee every year, about the price it would cost to buy a new game, and it updated every week to keep in line with WWE shows right up to being able to play a PPV card the morning of the show itself.

I think with sports games though that's kind of justified there's only so much you can do while I think with shooters and Call of duty there's more room for improvement.

They could do a lot with the 'Black Ops' part of the title maybe add a stealth stealth element as well as your every day shooting. The stealth could open up new things as well like sabotage and assasination missions. I'm only making this up as I go along but there's a lot they can do to add to the series.

I'm not saying totally change it since very few games totally change the formula, just refresh it with a few new (well implemented and sensible) elements so that it doesn't feel like a prettier version of the last game.

With a lot of games they get patched and stuff until a sequel comes out, they need to do this with sports games, keep it up to date until the next one comes out. It's basically the same thing as what you said but with a different method.

Fifa updates half way through the year on some things..

And on others it updates every week based on how a team and player has performed its a great idea.

Infinity Ward are no more... I think the series has run its course personally.
