It is not emotive or blackmail. It is humanity, as witnessed on this thread. Abortion was introduced for a small number of specific cases only. Now look at it.

The distinction you make based on the unknown is not good enough. We tolerate it beacuse we cant see it, again that is not good enough.

How how far does your idealism translate into realism - what do you suggest - without imposing your will on others (remember we live in a democracy not a dictatorship)? Why should people believe your opinion to be more valid than someone who has the opposite opinion?

I think it's sad because even though she would have turned out to be a terrible mother anyway, now that child has to worry about life in the care system.

Nah chances are after a social services investigation the child will go on the at risk register, the parents will have to undergo some form of parenting course and after a suitable period they will remove the name from the register.

In the meantime the child will probably stay with its parents.
