Default EastEnders drops prostitute murder storyline

EastEnders bosses are to refilm some parts of Lucas Johnson's story following the recent prostitute murders in Bradford.

During next week's episodes - which were planned months ago - man of the cloth-gone-bad Lucas (Don Gilet) was to be seen visiting a local red light district and picking up a call girl named Jade.

From there, he would drive her away to a remote location and force her to pray for God's forgiveness.

After she attempts to run away, Lucas gives chase and creating a ligature with his tie - as he previously did while killing his wife's ex Owen - he would then seemingly strangle the innocent girl to death.

However, following the CPS's decision to charge 40-year-old criminology student Stephen Griffiths with the murders of three call girls, EastEnders execs have decided to drop the prostitute link from next week's episodes out of respect for the families of those affected by recent events.

A spokesperson for the BBC soap told Digital Spy: "EastEnders storylines are written many months in advance and any similarity to real-life events is coincidental."

They continued: "However, on this occasion - to ensure we do not cause distress to the families involved in the recent tragic events in Bradford - we have decided to reshoot some parts of the storyline involving Lucas Johnson."

Affected scenes are currently being reshot at the soap's home at Elstree Sudios, Borehamwood, Herts ahead of transmission on Wednesday.

Yesterday evening, Coronation Street pulled its fourth episode of Siege Week following the shooting tragedy in Cumbria, in which 12 people were shot dead by a gunman.

Oh Fuck off BBC.

Are they serious?

First Corrie takes their episode off and now this?
When will people realise its just a soap, and did this guy kill 3 PROSTITUTES?

If not then theres no reason for this not to air.

Honestly Soaps are getting to soft these days.
I was really looking forward to this too.

FFS.

Poor girl (Prostitute Actress) will never have her big break.

Understandable in those circumstances, although people complain when the soaps aren't realistic and when they are we still moan and want it to be better.

Hollyoaks scraps child murder storyline.
Corrie cancels Wednesdays Episode.
Eastenders scraps a good death scene.

Whats next?

Emmerdale scraps scene involving a pig, for respect of all those that suffered from swine flu last year.

I would have liked HO to go through with that storyline although James Bulger's mother understandably complained and the show would have had a lot of criticism and it would have been distressing to his family.

As for the Lucas thing it's not been completely dropped, just a few things been changed so maybe what they have added in could be better then what they was originally going to show with the prostitute?.

I know it is a sad time for the families but I don't think it's right to keep changing storylines.

There is no need to cancel it at all, Im sure some people who live in Bradford are gutted!
Murders happen everyday, should they stop doing them completely incase they cause offence?
