William Goldman the screenwriter said that every actor you meet in person is totally different to what you get on screen: they're shorter, spottier etc., apart from one - Paul Newman.

I think old fashioned movie stars had abit of mystery about them. Todays are splashed on everything and we know every little detail about them and i think that ruins things.

I mean how can we now watch mel Gibson play a loving faithful husband and believe it?

Yeah, my mother introduced me to all the old greats like Peck, Newman, Mitchum, Bogey and co. They just had a quality that you don't get anymore.

I think (aswell as him being a fantastic actor) that's why Daniel Day Lewis holds a lot of appeal. He is very selective about his roles and doesn't do very many and you never see any scandal in the rags about him...

Oh God it was horrendous but I forgive him because of all the good visuals he gave me

I kind of thought it was horrendous but you two being Irish would know better.. There is someone who did a really good Scottish accent recently in a film but I can't remember who. (i can't seem to remember anything today.. don't know what's wrong with me!!)
