I watched the show last night and quite enjoyed it. As to his comments, yeah, he's entitled to them as we all are, but I'm not sure if turning a blind eye to the troubles of other nations is the right way for any country to approach life. So no, he's wrong there. Sounds like a NIMBY comment to me.
