You should visit Ireland and not that stupid excuse of a country up north. The real Ireland, you will find a lot of people still have a very bitter taste in their mouths towards the English and UK. I personally am offended every time people confuse Ireland as being a part of the UK. Its easy to say what u are saying from within the confines of one of the most oppressive empires there has ever been. The **** your country put us through. Of course she would be disgusted to be associated with the UK. Read a history book. You might learn a bit about why the UK really isnt that appealing.

I'm not intending to be rude or anything, but I don't understand how Ulster can be used as a British place , in any form, Ulster/Cúige Uladh is one of the four Irish provinces that make up Ireland, and it also includes some counties from the Republic. I don't quite get how this comes around to be British?

Ulster and Northern Ireland are very different things, try talking to a monaghan man about it and you will see. Ulster was there a long time before NI, so by saying you are a proud ulsterman goes against being proud to be british, i think what you are trying to say is you are a proud Northern Irish man and a proud Britishman since they are the same thing. Ulster Culture ended with the plantations IMO. If you were truly proud to be from Ulster you ould agree.

I have Ulster heritage and im proud of it. Both are mixed in. A lot of people don't realise this. Being an Ulsterman DOES NOT go against being british. Some one needs a history lesson. The people who fought in WW1, the 36th ulster division, a lot of them were proud to be fighting for their country. Others seen it as a way of getting home rule. Again, depending which side of the family you come from. RIP to all them great men. Last edited by keithafc; 11-06-2010 at 03:07 AM. |
