Dont know about his dress sense being an old fart and not having any dress sense myself. He comes across mentally and emotionally unstable though which wouldnt not help matters.

Also I dont think he has to dress all macho to have basic/fundamental macho attitude/tendancies.

I think the aussie male, especially those involved in sport, which JJ is at a low level, are highly competitive and tend to have a must win attitude which he may have felt had been attacked by Rachael's comment however innocently she may have ment it to be.
