I think that is a fair point, your bad points will be magnified. But he did see this side of himself potentially causing problems, he acknowledged that in his intro VT and in that interview so..i think he isn't far from what we saw.
There are people who are like that and just love to spread gossip, it isn't a pleasant character trait but there are worse.
