John James is the one who seems to be absolutely obsessed with airtime and game playing. Not just with Sam, but with Mario and Corin as well. I wonder why he would presume that Sam followed him and Josie just for airtime? Is it perhaps that he is completely aware that the more time he and Josie are together he himself is getting the airtime he so badly wants?
