Damn, I hope there's not another BB soon. I'm american, and I've loved BB10 (my first experience with BBUK), BB11, and UBB, but damn do you guys run BB into the ground. No wonder it's gone off the air lol. It's so overexposed, it is ridiculous. Not only is there a show daily but all these spinoff shows like BBLB and BBBM just serve to water down the show. It'd be a nice change of pace (if it did come back) if it was somewhat americanized for a season where it aired maybe every other day and had more of a gameplay aspect to it. To me it'd be pretty cool to see how the housemates would adjust to that type of series, at least just for one season.

Nah us british like "reality tv" not the over dramatised american "reaity" shows.

You guys seem to like to play dramatic music over everything.

OMG No thank you, the American version is pants compared to the British version. The public have no say in the outcome of evictions etc and it's completely over dramatised.

E4 screened the American version a couple of years ago and dropped it like a hot brick due to poor viewing figures. I'm not surprised, I sat through 2 episodes and thought what a load of ****e it was compared to the British version and never watched anymore.

You've sent us Shameless and Desperate Housewives, PLEASE spare us from an Americanised Big Brother!!!

I'm not a fan of BB US being so dramatized. What I was referring to when I said to maybe americanize it for a season had more to do with the structure of the show. First thing being, stop showing it every single bloody day. That and cutting out all the filler shows like BBBM and BBLB. It's just a completely overexposed show which is why it's dead now while the American version is still trucking along. When it's not aired every single day, there's a bit more excitement when you finally do get to watch an episode. I like BBUK, it's much different than the American version but I find myself getting a bit bored with it towards the end of a series. It all becomes a tad bit predictable at that point.

And really, what's wrong with not letting the public decide who goes? I can't count how many times I've come on this forum lurking and seen people bitching halfway through the season because the public decide to vote out all the interesting and entertaining housemates in the early evictions leaving the boring, nice housemates in the house. It gets so boring they have to introduce new housemates throughout the series to liven things up again. BB11 somewhat rectified that by having the save/replace tasks. If not for those, Dave would have been out pretty early on. I didn't like Dave early in the series, but he grew on me in the later weeks. Letting the public decide was also the reason Steve, one of the most utterly worthless and boring housemates I've ever seen, was allowed to stay for so long. Reason being is people in the house were too afraid to nominate him because it might make them look bad to the public. I'm not asking for it be a full on copy of BBUS, but I think adding some elements from it would make it an even better show than it already is.

BBUS takes a bit to get into. I didn't like it at first with the first season I watched. It's when alliances get formed and all the "fat" in the house gets trimmed that it becomes really entertaining. Though this past season has been kind of disappointing to be honest. It's usually pretty good once it gets rolling though.

but it's oh so typical of America to take something change it and call it the same name, bit like our language. Big Brother is designed to have public influence otherwise it's the Apprentice, Big Brother is designed to have vote to evict otherwise it's I'm a Celeb. Need I point out that the most popular housemate of the current US Season (which I do not watch) was Britney and she didn't make the final either.

I agree with this to some extent - that BB UK is overexposed. The majority of HMs are either stereotypes or 1 dimensional 'freaks' that have no depth because of what Ch4 allowed to be broadcast. And the spin-off shows are just as gimmicky and overexposed. If BB became more adult oriented again and had the balls to allow arguments to escalate just a bit more and portray a bit mroe nudity and not overdo the spin-offs with 'whacky' features, maybe that would work. Even when Russell did Big Mouth 3/5 (however many) nights a week it was whacky but more adult.

I quite liked the montages used for CBB7, BB11 and UBB because it freshenned it up a bit and wasn't so 'Americanised'. It was plain and simple music during tasks that gave it a bit more pace.

I'm a bit cautious about the idea of airing eps every other day. In BB3 and 4 it was still on 7 nights a week with Saturday being a live task rather than a highlights show and Sunday's hour long ep covering the highlights from Friday and Saturday - which worked. It wasn't so gimmicky, it was more factual and adult. However, BB8 had NO Saturday shows and also tried to fit the highlights from Friday and Saturday in to an hour long Sunday show which failed miserably because everything was so overexposed. I remember one Sunday show started moments before a HM's eviction (think it was BB8's Nicky) so just think how much footage happened that day that was never broadcast.

As you said, you are American. I dont think you understand the British Demographic as well as you think.
What the British public wants and what the US public wants are 2 completely different things.
