he's lucky both legs are still intact - it was a horrible challenge, the ball didnt seem to move at all, he just went straight over the top. It was full of frustrated malice and nothing much else in the last second of the game. What a *****. An inept ref had his red card out but was talked out of it by their players and showed a yellow.
Oh jesus I hope he's alright, and I hate how refs pussy out of things cos of players talking him out of it! Really winds me up.

This happend to Chopra 3 weeks ago at home to Donny, it didn't look that bad but you see this photo and it's a fcking disgusting challenge, and Chops is out for 8 weeks now and our only fit striker left is Keogh.

Yeah they really have lost it haven't they, their defending was diabolical today and we really could have won it by a few more goals :3 that's probably cos they signed Gerrard though LOL

I think yous will get automatic promotion along with QPR.

One thing in the Championship that has really came to my attention though is how bad Middlesborough are LOL.. it's brilliant..

1. My English team is Newcastle so i don't particularly like them.
2. Their team is just full of SPL rejects who have been taken from the Old Firm, seriously do they not have scouts who travel outwith Britian?
3. I'm a Hibs fan, Kevin Thomson used to play for us then in the lead up to his move to Rangers he made statements like "I would walk barefooted along the M8 to sign for Rangers". Showing a lot of disrespect to us who brought him up as a youngster, so yeah he's pretty hated around here so whoever he plays for i usually hope results go against them, and they are 20th.

My opinion on today's games.

Everton 3 - 3 Man United

Good to see that the team I used to support have dropped points by conceading two gaols in the stoppage time and could have apparently lost the game in the last seconds.

Arsenal 4 - 1 Bolton

Really expected better from Arsenal. They were struggling until Cahil was sent off.

Fulham 2 - 1 Wolves

Dirty play from Wolves.

Man City 1 - 1 Blackburn

Poor from Man City. They really need to beat these teams if they are going to challenge for the title.

Newcastle 0 - 2 Blackpool

The lucky Blackpool march on. Don't worry it will come to end soon and they will sink down the table.

West brom 1 - 1 Spurs

Poor from Tottenham.

West ham 1 - 3 Chelsea

Fantastic victory. We have made a brilliant start and I personally think we can win the quadruple this season.

Wigan 1 - 1 Sunderland

Who cares?

Burnley 4-3 Preston

Unbelievable game. The only thing that ruined it was the dreadful referee.

Cardiff 2-0 Hull

Good win for Cardiff but I wouldn't be getting too excited if I was a Cardiff fan. There is a long time to go and I personally can't see them getting into the Play-Off's.

I really hope Southampton get promoted, they don't deserve to be League One. I hope they can promotion to the Championship then to the Premier League. they were a great Premiership club and St Mary's is a wonderful stadium.

We bossed the game completely we had 4 - 6 very good shots on target in the first 30 minutes.
We were winning 2 - 1 when cahill got sent off, but we were already in control.

A weakened side and we still dominated.
Fabregas is back to his best some real vision.
Carlos Vela is also an excellent player and i think it will be good for him to start playing regularly with Bendtner and RVP out.

And Rosicky is like having a new 10m signing.

Being a bit of sad bastard I watched the whole game again on ArsenalTV online this morning. I thought I'd review my opinion of the referee's performance and the team in the cold light of day. Stuart Attwell was the referee and I think he brought a lot of the trouble on himself with some poor inconsistent decisions making, although he was certainly not helped at all by his linesmen who were about as useful as stuffed marrows at times.

The game certainly didn't start off as a niggly one. The problem was that the overly physical and aggressive tackles were encouraged by the referee's failure to adequately deal with what went on in the first half. Elmander was slightly fortunate to avoid the book for sliding in late on Cesc early doors, Steinsson was also rather late on Gibbs. Rosicky was nailed late by the sliding Davies on the 15 minute mark, again no card. The first yellow then came for an appalling late lunge on Wilshere by Davies, he could easily have been sent off by now and only 18 minutes had elapsed.

Arshavin should then have had a penalty, Steinsson took his legs before getting the slightest of touches on the ball, the referee was well positioned by choked. The thuggish Robinson then got away with another overly aggressive tackle, this time on Cesc, anyone who knows the game could recognise the deliberate violence in this kind of tackle, the linesman who was a few yards away saw nothing wrong. Kieran Gibbs was then given a yellow card for a tackle which in isolation was a yellow card, however if the referee was to be consistent then he should have booked at least five Bolton players by this point. Again the inconsistency of the officiating was staggering, both teams had one yellow but the nasty fouls had virtually all been committed by the one side.

The first half still wasn't over. Muamba astonishingly got away without a card when he slid in dangerously with his studs up through Cesc Fabregas, for some strange reason the referee felt a talking to was enough. Several Bolton players were protesting to the referee, including Cahill who had run a significant distance to have his 'say'. Cahill also had time to chop through the back of Chamakh when nowhere near the ball. So although there wasn't massive controversy in the first half, if one looks back it is easy to see where and when the referee began to lose control of this game. One has to be consistent and firm to keep control, and the referee clearly didn't do this.

The second half saw the indiscipline spill over, the referee's laxity meant that Bolton thought they could continue to get away with murder. Steinsson was carded early on for a cynical foul when Wilshere was breaking dangerously. Shortly after we had scored to make it 2-1 Davies was very lucky not to be sent off, he went in very hard and late on Koscielny with his head, it did appear that Davies knew very much what he was doing. The ref appeared to bottle this decision, the tension was building here because of the referee's lack of consistency, Arsenal players were getting frustrated as a result of the lack of protection and Eboue was booked for saying something along these lines.

The big moment came with the Cahill red. Bolton claim Lee was fouled in the build up, I disagree, Song did very little and Lee went down very very easily. Arshavin broke, he had to hurdle a reckless lunge from Holden and played a one two with Chamakh, well after Chamakh had given the ball back to Arshavin, Cahill went through the back of Chamakh in a rather nasty two footed manner. It was a clear red card offence and the referee got this correct, there was not intent to play the ball and he went through with both legs straight in a manner designed to maim. Bolton surrounded the referee, who had to back off, Knight, Cahill, Robinson and Davies were all involved.

Control had gone out of the window. Next came the worst tackle of the game. Diaby was played through in the inside right position, Robinson could only beat him to the ball by sliding in recklessly with a straight leg over the top of the ball with his studs up (see above image from Arseblogger). Robinson's straight leg nailed Diaby in his mid shin area and he had to limp off shortly afterwards. This was an appalling tackle, a definite straight red card, and the referee didn't even give a free kick, he was poorly positioned and his linesman gave him no help at all. Maybe there is a case for asking the FA to review this one, Robinson is a particularly nasty player as we have seen in the past, he goes into tackles in a way that will reliably injure. After the third goal the aggression faded as Bolton knew they were dead and buried, although there was still time for Attwell to miss a clear penalty as Muamba chopped down Eboue from behind in the box.

It is always easy to analyse these things in retrospect and Stuart Attwell is only one of many referees who clearly lack a sufficient understanding of the game to be able to control it. However it is clear from reviewing the game that if discipline had been enforced more robustly from the off then we may well have had a much cleaner game and Abou Diaby may well have not been injured.

I listened to a bit of Radio 5 on the way home from the game yesterday and if ever there was a man who sums up what is wrong with the English game then it is Robbie Savage. He openly talked of how Mark Hughes had ordered his teams to deliberately aggressively foul superior opponents, he claimed that young players should be taught to pull shirts and trip opponents. Savage's game, minimal skill and technical ability combined with his persistent cheating and fouling, is a case study in what our inadequate refereeing allows to flourish in the English game. It is only a matter of time before another one of our players gets another shocking injury as a result of this, I just find it hard to understand how so many in our media and within the game can condone this kind of 'football'?

Read it if your interested, all the dangerous tackles bolton got away with.. if it was that twat mike riley no doubt bolton would have been down to like 9 men or less.

Fabregas now crossed it efficiently and Chamakh hung in the air, looked around, tucked in his shirt, slicked back his punk haircut and then just when everyone thought the moment had passed headed the ball in. Boy that guy can head them.

The bleating starts - not the turning point

There it was at 60 minutes the turning point. But I was wrong, when I watched match of the day I discovered the turning point was the sending off of Cahill on 64 minutes. Apparently if Cahill had not been sent off Bolton would have overcome Arsenal and won the game. Arsenal's 17 shots to Bolton's four counted for nothing, it was Bolton that were about to win.

The game remained scrappy mainly due to the poor refereeing, and Arsenal had worked hard to get to 2-1. Then on 78 minutes Song scored from an almost impossible angle. Three-one, and suddenly the sun shone on what had been a tedious match. This was Arsenal's 1,000 Premiership goal under Wenger and it was about to get better. The announcer had lost count because he left this milestone unremarked.

LOL!

Eh?

Of course they do, it was their **** performances that relegated them in the first place. No club has a divine right to get out of the league, Leeds fans will tell you the same.

Not that it would have changed how the game panned out in the end if he stayed on but i don't think Cahill's challenge was worthy of a sending off.

Barcelona lost 2-0 to Herucles yesterday. I so hope Real Madrid don't win La Liga this year.

Funny though..

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Questions Jose Mourinho's Inter Champions League Triumph
Gunners boss says Inter were lucky to win competition last year...

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has blasted Jose Mourinho ahead of the start of the Champions League group stages on Tuesday.

Mourinho was in charge of Italian side Inter as he guided them to the competition's final where they beat German side Bayern Munich to lift the trophy.

Wenger and Mourinho have a history of rivalry from the current Real Madrid coach's time at Chelsea, and the Arsenal boss believes that the 'Special One' was lucky to win the Champions League last season.

He feels that the Nerazzurri benefited from favourable decisions made by some referees throughout the competition, especially with the two decisions in the last 16 clash with Chelsea that went the way of Mourinho's side.

“Look at the teams who got to last year's final," Wenger told the Daily Mail.

“With normal refereeing neither of them would have been there. No Bayern, and no Inter.”

LOL!

So good, as Jose was insulting Arsenal before the season started saying we would do nothing this season, and we will struggle to be in europe next year..

Southampton have a wonderful ground with fantastic fans. They are only in League One because of the poor ownership and management which isn't the fans fault at all. Your correct, no club has a divine right but I would prefer the bigger clubs of English football to be in the Permier League other than smaller clubs such as Wigan who can't fill their stadium.

Anything with wenger in is good. look at what he said about the cahill challenge on Chamakh..

Arsene Wenger got into character beautifully too, in response to Cahill’s red card: “... it was a dark orange, maybe a light red.” Wenger is at his most likeable when he comes out with such glowing one-liners and it gave the feeling that things simply went according to plan this weekend.

The reason Arsenal get injured... Rosicky jumped in and headbutted Eboue whilst trying to celebrate with Vela..
