Nobody really tries nowadays; Mariah Carey's an old relic wheeled out for the sake of old times, she's got little relevance to music today, I doubt any of the singles from her album will go to #1 in the chart but I imagine the album will sell well around Christmas time. You can guarantee if Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry et al bothered with a Christmas single it'd shoot straight to #1 and I don't think it would hurt their credibility at all.
