I used to voice my disapproval of these silly events. Then I realised that they give an ego boost to the more needy members so maybe they do some good. Then again, I also think they make many more feel even more excluded...

A good post and ditto. I still think they are divisive rather than positive. But hey - the site's dying so at least these events stop it being too much tumbleweed.
