Default Face it, Girls Aloud are over.

Aren't they? As a working girl group. There won't be a new album or new singles. They are at the same point the Spice Girls are and any new Girls Aloud activity will be a reunion for the 10th aniversary next year.

But really, lets face it, Cheryl has moved on to bigger and better - her music is Girls Aloud Part II and the Nadine has flopped.

Girls Aloud - so '00s ...

She's re-releasing her alb with the Black Eyed Peas adding a new track.

I think she'll be bigger than Kylie in the US.

The ultimate would be a Spice Girls Vs. Girls Aloud TV big special produced by Sir Simon Cowell.

And I suppose that would be broadcast directly from Hell.

It's weird, I really don't like the idea of them not reforming because I consider them to be one of the best things about 00s British pop, but then I don't actually.. like any of their songs? I mean, I don't dislike them per se, just none of their songs really appeal to me. I blame Nadine though, I mean it says a lot that the other four appeared together for the Pride of Britain awards but she wasn't there - say what you like about Cheryl but she's not the one blocking a reunion...

Personally I'm still rooting for an original Sugababes reunion to spark a chart battle with the current line up, that's far more entertaining than Girls Aloud working with Xenomania for the millionth time.

I can see them reforming next year, Cheryl isn't going to be big in America and her last album was absolutely diabolical

If she becomes famous in America it won't be for singing, that's for sure.

I actually enjoy her singing voice, it's got a distinctive sound, she's just a really weak singer with nothing new to offer an American market that's oversaturated with female popstars. They have their Britneys, Katys and Mileys, just like we have our Cheryls and Pixies etc. She's just not going to get a look in; if she was going to 'crack America' she'd have to do it at a time when male artists have been dominating the charts and females are starting to release again - jump on the bandwagon as it starts, as it were.

I think she needs a big gateway like US XF for sure.

if she gets that gig I think music success is very possible on the back of it. Fight for this love was a global smash so she does have selling power as an unknown solo artist. She wasn't famous in those countries beforehand.

Girls Aloud are my ultimate guilty pleasure but I think its best they were just left in the past now. there isn't really anywhere else for them to go or any more ground to cover. They've all had success away from the group (ironically except Nadine) and Cheryl is too big for Girls Aloud now and was the driving force by the end even though they started to fail a bit. A reunion wouldn't be right imo.

I'd say a large portion of her popularity from the X Factor comes from her sense of humour at the bootcamp stages, she's got a very British sense of fun/humour and I really don't think it would transfer across very well to America, I'd be surprised if she got the job but Simon does seem to love her so anything can happen...

with that you're assuming that X Factor is going to be a hit in America. It didn't set Australia alight, and X Factor USA will be the third show of its type to air within the year. American Idol is currently on air and 'The Voice' starts next month which uses the mentor idea, but it has a gimmicky format whereas X Factor is more or less the same as American Idol. They've also managed to sign up Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine (Maroon 5) who are much bigger names than those rumoured for X Factor. Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole aren't big in the US, it would almost be like Dannii Minogue's arrival on our series- zero impact.

I know I've veered off a little bit, but my point is even if Cheryl does join the USA panel, there is no guarantees that the show will be a success in the first place. X Factor UK is the British equivalent (in terms of audience) of The Superbowl and there is no way X Factor USA will reach those heights regardless of success, so if Cheryl tries to launch a career off the back of it, that might not work either.

If they were to reform wouldn't it be 'Cheryl and her backing band' though. Then there's Nadine the failed solo member. It's just too uncomfortable now, when before they were all pretty even.

Very different to the solo Spices who all have had number ones in their own right - except Posh who's now this fashionista.
