Default The Budget

Main points - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12829433

I like it; fuel duty cuts & 4p rise postpones, a review of the 50% top rate of tax, tax simplified, growth forecast not too bad considering double dip fear, more help and incentives for businesses, more apprenticeship schemes etc. I'm actually quite impressed

Speaking to an economics lecturer, the view is that it is not likely to stimulate growth by any degree but may help avoid a double dip recession.

So you should be after the massive ballsup Labour made of the economy over 13 years of incompetent and irresponsible borrowing. At least this government are moving in the right direction. It was never going to be easy, and it was certainly never going to be a quick fix.

Well I dont see why, the cut in corporation tax has meant that we have already had WPP, the worlds largest advertising firm, say that it will move it's tax headquarters back to the UK from Ireland. Hopefully more will follow, care to explain what it was that made you so speechless?

The cut in corporation tax actually surprises me, only in this Country do the politicians think lower rates there are what is needed, they say we have one of the lowest rates and will be well down the list for lower rates of the tax in years to come at only 23% eventually.
However, look at the Nations who have much higher rates of it than us and they are all doing far better than us, why is that?
Corporation tax is only a part of business, its the other factors the Govt should be looking at not just that element of it.

Also because of this budget, taken overall, it is now widely accepted that the average family is going to be £300 to £400 worse off per year.

I personally think the Govt maybe has done enough to stave off a double dip recession but I think there growth forecast for 2012 and beyond are likely to be lowered again in next years budget because this is not a budget that will assist growth at all.

The 1p petrol cut is a total sham, petrol stations were adding 1p to 3p to their prices monday and tuesday before the budget, so no 1p cut came at all really and how much has petrol gone up over the last 4 months anyway.

All govts are very cunning, they seem in budgets to be giving you something but once you analyse it you see that really they are taking far more than they seem to giving.
Its sad really, but if we can spend millions now an a new military involvement, things cannot be as bad as we are being told and now we may be even going to help a financial package aid programme for Portugal for goodness sake.

Yet we are cutting things for our own Country, hammering confidence here, what kind of economic madness is that.
