The UK is currently on 'severe' which is the second highest but it has been for over a year now. We're not yet 'critical'. (Sorry members from other countries, not sure what yours is) but presumably America would be at the highest right now ??
Are you put off going places due to recent events? Or past events? Would you, for example, be happy to be at ground zero on 9/11 this year? The 10th anniversary |

Plus terror attacks tend to happen when people least expect it...not when they most expect it.

In Yorkshire? no LOL!
If I was in London then maybe be cautious but I suppose you never know so theres no point putting yourself out by worrying. If I had a holiday planned to America tomorrow i'd still go. ![]() |

If like there was a warning to stay away from something (like the tube or airports) I would. Other than that it wouldn't bother me.

SIGH

I get nervy when I'm on the tube now. Every time I'm on the tube, I'm looking around at people thinking, 'Have they got a bomb strapped to their torso?'
Then I get really paranoid, and panicky.

Living in London during the 70s and 80s when IRA terrorist attacks and threats of attacks were common, I am more than used to going to work every day under that sort of fear. We were body searched and our bags searched at every public building, mail boxes were sealed and rubbish bins removed from station concourses. Anyone with an Irish accent was viewed with suspicion which was ridiculous yet understandable given the climate of fear at that point in time.
On two occasions: the 1981 Chelsea Barracks bombing and the 1990 Stock Exchange bombing, I was working nearby and remember being evacuated from the area. I lived through the anxiety and fear of the July 7th atrocities when for many hours that day I was unable to contact my son who had been travelling to Edgware Road that morning. For many months afterwards it was extremely stressful travelling into London suspiciously eyeing up anyone carrying a briefcase or rucksack! Now it is just second nature to be extra vigilant about anyone looking suspicious or unattended bags etc. The perpetrators of terrorist threats and attacks might have changed, but it's the same old scenario, at least for those of us who live in densely populated cities where the cowardly terrorists can wreak the most havoc. You can't let such scum stop you getting on with your lives - that is precisely what they want. All the BS I've been reading in the papers and on the forums about how killing Bin Laden will spark revenge attacks is pathetic - the maniacs who use terrorism to bully and subjugate people need no provocation or motivation, they need no excuse to kill and maim innocent people, so don't let them control your life.

I am not put off doing something or going anywhere but I am more alert if I go. I am well aware I could be just as much at risk in any supermarket or anywhere I happened to be if some terrorists decided to cause mayhem.
You just have to be alert and that's all you can do really. If terrorists can get past the security services and even armed forces,we can only hope. |

There's no point as these attacks don't happen when security is at high alert, they happen randomly at any time so if we let them restrict us we wouldn't be living our lives. What will be, will be, I only worry about things I can control

Personally I don't tend to worry about it much as I could never imagine anyone wanting to bomb where I live and I'm a safe distance away from any big targets.

It can't stop us, but I do get paranoid.
Not proud but when I see a muslim with bags on the tube I get paranoid. ![]() Today for example was tense on the tube. there was a muslim woman that walked in and so many people looked at her. she had her head scarf, a fanny pack and backpack. lol people kept eyeing her. maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if she looked like she'd cared about her apearance. she had on worn out jeans and some type of ugly shirt lol. I wish it wasn't so. ![]()

Being in Kent i don't see there being any worry or paranoia, although in London is perfectly understandable.
