Was going to say I'm sure IRA is no longer but I guess the media machine use it as a generic/instant term to describe any sort of Irish terror threat.

It's times like these I'm glad I live away from any sort of cities/major built up areas, it would literally terrify me.

Not really, it's because (rightly or wrongly) the organisations responsible for threats and attacks nowadays do still use it to describe themselves, you cant really blame the media for using it

They are currently the only active dissident group who use the letters, yes, but they have been oddly quite about Lizzy's visit. They have the guns but only a few. Same as their numbers. They are certainly the most capable group of pulling off hit and run atrocities in mainland Ireland but they don't exactly have resources pissing out their ears.

The people making the loudest noise now are the new and improved, 'political' groups such as Eirigi and the 32 Countey Sovereignty Movement.

It's mental here I cant use my front door, theres Army on the streets cheking shores, cars, bins, bushes. All roads are being closed, as is the park, zoo, visitor centres.... gonna jump in the park now ina bit see what I can see....

I don't even know what she's doing in Cork on Friday. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to come here. But the whole town will be a car free zone all afternoon as a counter measure against carbombs .

Tomorrow I think, its like a ghost town, usually at this time the roads would be packed with traffic.... theres been about 3 cars in the past 30 minutes....
