I think anything in the 30's in high for the UK. I know London and the far south experience warmer climates that Scotland, but even at that - it does seem high temperature - in reality, I'm just jealous!

Oh, right. Wow! But it's weird, that. 33 degrees celcius in the norm for this time of year in such places as Florida and Jamaica, and they don't have their roads melt! Perhaps British road just aren't built for hot weather.

It was actually 38 here in London back in '03. I was only 8 but I remember the heat and how everyone looked like they were gonna drop dead from it.

And yeah I don't think out roads are designed to cope with such extremes. They probably use a slightly different mixture of tarmac in hotter nations.
