Wonderful. You're an idiot.

As a side note I do watch the news - I don't think you do - and I see no great cause for panic with relation to these evil censors. Kids have easier access to violent and disturbing content right now than at any other point in history. A bitter politician looking to make headlines will come out of the woodwork every now and then looking for tighter restrictions but these moral outrage stories-of-the-week almost never translate into legislative action.

I see no problem at all with age ratings. I don't want kids sitting anywhere near me when I go to the movies. I assume you draw the line on your view at some point - perhaps at allowing a young child access to hardcore pornography - which totally debases and contradicts your own argument?
Erm, OK, no need to call me an "idiot". Anyway, I see your point.

I'm bound to honesty.

And yeah Vicky the post I was responding to specifically mentioned age restrictions although I agree with not censoring the actual content of films. A step too far that should never be done.

Preventing kids from accessing them is one thing. Preventing adults from accessing them is just absurd and always wrong when you are talking about fictional content.

I'd hate to live in a place like Australia where they do that with video games in particular all the time. And that's a first world democracy!

Yeah I know you were talking about something different. Just thought I would clarify that my earlier post didnt mean I agreed with this ridiculous idea of not having age censors

Sorry, Vicky and Almighty Stu.

OK, maybe age restrictions is all right, but branding a movie "too graphic for anybody" is complete and utter nonsense.

Yup. Still some people who argue that its right though. I dont care how sick the film is, how violent, how scary or whatever...adults should have the choice of watching it if they want to :/

Its like this whole ****e with the human centipede 2. Personally I wouldnt even want to watch it...but censoring it totally is just pathetic

Well thats something else. People WILL still watch it anyway. And them making such a big fuss out of banning it...will make more people want to watch it just to see if its as bad as its meant to be.

Exactly. To be honest, it's all down to personal preference. Some people will say that nobody should watch that trash. It's like saying nobody should watch soaps because you, personally, don't like them (imagine my life without them!!). And, in my experience, after watching a movie that was deemed "too graphic for viewing", there's nothing more graphic about the movie than a normal 15/18.

I agree with a lot of the total bans on films. Some films push the boundaries too far.

Its not real though.

And surely adults should be able to chose what they watch.

And again, they will watch it anyway, so its a big pointless fuss about nothing really and only makes the film more appealing

Well, tbh, adults should choose what they deem to be acceptable. Also, deeming films "too graphic for anyone" will probably enhance further viewing.

Yeah I agree with Vicky, it's fictionalised and no matter how sick it is I think adults can make up their own mind over whether they want to watch a film or not, they shouldnt be banned from doing so because a few people don't like what's in it. But yeah, no problem with age certificates at all

That's your personal view though. What about others personal views? Should they not be entitled to watch them? After all you are more than free to not watch them. Everyone has different boundaries.

No work of fiction should ever be banned unless you're talking about something deliberately designed say to give paedos something to jack off to.

I agree, tbh. It is not necessary for the governors to decide that nobody should watch these movies just because they, personally, agree with the content. OK, fair enough, some movies do push the boundaries, but does that mean that other people don't want their boundaries pushed?

EDIT: the last bit was hilarious!

Yeah, unless it's child pornography, which is actually against both the law and social and moral ethos, shouldn't adults be in charge of what they want to watch? Do they really need somebody telling them that it's not fit for anybody to watch?

i don't watch movies as much as i used to. The older you get, the less new things seem. I think most movies require a suspension of disbelief, and the older you get, the more cynical you get, so you are less able to immerse yourself in the movie completely.

I think younger people still enjoy movies a lot.
